BYD unveiled its new SUV model at the automotive fair held in China. BYD Sea Lion 07, which is expected to rival Tesla Model Y, has managed to attract all the attention with its stylish design and price.
What does BYD Sea Lion 07 promise?
BYD introduced its electric mid-size SUV model Sea Lion 07 at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The Sea Lion 07 represents the company’s entry into the mid-size SUV segment dominated by the Model Y. It is the first model in the “Sea Lion” series and was developed by a former Audi design director.
It is close to 4.8 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.93 meters. Using BYD’s latest “CTB” battery technology, the electric vehicle utilizes interior space more efficiently by placing the battery structure directly on the floor of the vehicle.
The most striking point of Sea Lion 07 will be its price. The model, which is expected to be offered for sale in China in the first phase, will be priced between 27,000 – 35,000 dollars. This means that it will be almost 10 thousand dollars cheaper than the Model Y’s starting price of 37,000 dollars in China.
It is not clear when this model will expand to markets outside China. However, considering that the Model Y is a popular electric vehicle all over the world, we can say that it will enter the global market soon.
